Kirkcudbright River
Trips
Pleasure cruising from
Kirkcudbright's modern and safe floating pontoon at The Marina
Trips leave from the Marina at Castledykes Walk,
Kirkcudbright. Both upstream and downstream sailing times vary due
to tide times. Times will be displayed at the Tourist
Information Office, Kirkcudbright, and at the harbour.
Each trip will last approximately one hour, during
which time you will take in the changing scenery offered by the
tidal river Dee, the
wildlife, particularly the bird life, and enjoy the local landmarks. You will
also learn some of the maritime history of the town, of the river and of its
fishing fleet.
The "Lovely Nellie" is a custom built boat
for river trips with under-cover seating. The boat has all
safety equipment to Royal Yachting Association standards and is
fully insured.
She is a child-friendly boat. Children are
provided with various sizes of life jackets and buoyancy aids and
can even try out steering the boat down the river. Special
bird watching and longer trips can be arranged. Private hire
can be arranged on
request.
