Details: This is a fantastic family sporting day out for all ages and abilities 440 runners and walkers took part in 2013. There are three different runs along with a school fair and entertainment. The Kirkcudbright Half Marathon starts at 11:00 for walkers and 13:00 for runners The Beeches Run is a 11.2 k run starting 13:00 Finally a 1.5 mile Fun Run starting at 13:20 All routes have been accurately measured and verified. Walkers are only permitted on the half marathon route. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of signposts and stewards to make sure you don’t get lost! We have a whole range of exhibitors and demonstrations for the whole family to enjoy, these include;- The Clan Scotland’s Cycle Stunt Team. Offering the most exciting and daring bicycle display shows in the UK. With over 1000 shows under their belts they've amazed and enthralled over 250,000 people live and a TV audience of over 10 million people, from BBC Children in Need, to performing at the Olympics. Birds of Prey Displays Eagle and Vulture Team. Not Your Usual Falconry Display! Birds of Prey Displays offer something very different from your typical flying falconry display.They concentrate on the natural behaviour of their magnificent birds, and show them doing what they do best - flying free - in the most natural displays of its kind. Scottish Steam Traction Engine Society. A selection of Full size and Miniature Steam Traction Engines, Miniature Steam Railway (Come and have a ride) and Steam Fair Ground Organ will be joining us for the weekend.We will also have a selection of vintage tractors and vehicles on site to remind you or educate you of how it used to be. There will be children's entertainment brought to you by Reid Entertainment including Rides and Bouncy Castle, Children's Entertainer Bubbles the Clown and for the older kid's out there Laggan Outdoor will be bringing their Segways, come along and learn how to glide your way round the course. Details: If you like horses then you will love this. A wonderful spectacle of over 100 horses and riders, beautifully presented, riding through the streets of Kirkcudbright. It was the year 1455 and Kirkcudbright was given Royal Burgh status by virtue of a charter granted by King James II. The Persuivant from the King and the Cornet together rode round the boundaries referred to in the charter. This act is recreated annually by the Kirkcudbright Cornet's Club with their spectacular ceremony of the Riding of the Marches through the town ending in the Harbour Square.

Details: Now celebrating its 27th anniversary this classic car rally is presented by local and visiting classic car enthusiasts. This is an open display and run for veteran, vintage and classic cars from all over Scotland and beyond. The cars will assemble for registration at 9.30am in the Harbour Square followed by a non-competitive run of approximately 3 hours through the scenic countryside returning to the Square for display and judging. The Royal Trophy will be awarded to the best combination of vehicle and appropriately dressed driver/passengers. May we stress that in this competition; account will be taken only of the relationship between the costume and the period in which the vehicle was built.
